WSJ Editor to Speak at Press Club Event Thursday
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – On Thursday, the Youngstown Press Club will welcome Wall Street Journal assistant editor Paul Beckett, who is in charge of efforts to free Evan Gershkovich, a Wall Street Journal reporter who was detained in Russia on March 29, 2023, while doing his job as a journalist.
Beckett will speak about Gershkovich, who he is and what’s being done to secure his release.
To further support journalists’ rights, the Youngstown Press Club will make a contribution to the Committee to Protect Journalists, a nonprofit organization that promotes press freedom worldwide.
