Penn-Northwest Helps to Grow Emerging Technologies

SHARON, Pa. – At Penn-Northwest Development Corp.’s annual meeting, attendees heard about the progress of the Homegrown Initiative, repopulation efforts and an effort to fund emerging technologies in Mercer County.

Rod Wilt, executive director, says thanks to four other economic development partners in the county, they were able to raise $410,000 to help fund those emerging technologies.

“We were fortunate in the last year that we were able to help our very first company, Advanced Power and Energy, with $50,000 from the Innovation Fund and $450,000 from the Ben Franklin Technology Partnership. We were able to assist them with a half a million dollar award, and we’re very excited about the future of that technology,” Wilt says.
