Penn State Shenango Names Howett Athletic Director

SHARON, Pa. — Penn State Shenango has hired Amanda Howett as its athletic director. Howett brings to the campus various experience from the NCAA Division I, II and III levels.

“I’m eager to hit the ground running as we all look forward to the 2021-22 season,” says Howett. “It’s been great to get to know the students, coaches and employees. I’ve enjoyed getting settled in this small campus atmosphere. It was immediately obvious that everyone here wants these students to have the most fulfilling academic and extracurricular experience possible.”

At Allegheny College, Howett was the manager of athletic operations and coordinated all aspects of athletic recreational programs including managing travel for 19 varsity sports and the oversight of intramural programs. As a graduate assistant for Mountaineer Athletic Hospitality at West Virginia University, she oversaw operations of concessions to Mountaineer Athletic Club donors, assisted with executing and planning donor events and managed a team of workers on football game days.

And most recently she served as a career coach at Slippery Rock University where she provided individual coaching to students and alumni; coordinated and participated in special projects such as career fairs, alumni events, admissions and orientation program, and campus recruitment activities; and conducted workshops and presentations on career-related topics.

Howett will join the Penn State University Council of Athletic Directors and be part of the first season of women’s basketball in Shenango, which is set to begin in winter 2021.
