Pizza Challenge Returns in a New Location

NILES, Ohio – The Warren Rotary Club’s Slice of the Valley pizza and beer challenge will take place Sunday, March 6, at Eastwood Event Center, inside Eastwood Mall.
The annual event, which was canceled last year, runs from 4 to 7 p.m. Admission is $10 ($5 for children ages 6 and under) and includes tickets for three slices of pizza (two for children). Extra slices can be purchased.
There will be a silent auction, live music by Bo Wagner, and a panel of celebrity judges featuring Jerry Mathers, star of the classic TV show “Leave It to Beaver.”
Other featured guests include Ray “Boom Boom” Mancini, White House chef Guy Mitchell, and many others.
This year marks the first time the Pizza Challenge will take place at Eastwood Event Centre. In the past it took place at the Metroplex in Libery Township.
Twelve Valley pizza shops will compete for the people’s choice and judge’s choice awards. They are Amen Corner, Chubby’s, Belleria, Cocca’s, Gionino’s, Ianazone’s, Marco’s, The Station Grille, Pizza Joe’s, Salvatore’s, St. Anthony’s Brier Hill Pizza, and Sunrise Inn.
Six local breweries will also compete for best beer and best beer to eat with pizza. They are Birdfish Brewing Co., Clubhouse Brewery, Modern Methods Brewing Co., Ohio Brewing Co., Paladin Brewing and Penguin City Brewing Co.
Beer will be sold by the glass.
