Platt Insurance Prepares Move to Howland Office

WARREN, Ohio – Platt Insurance plans to immerse itself in Trumbull County this year while capitalizing on new avenues for growth, says owner Ellie Platt.

This spring, Platt Insurance will hold a grand opening celebration for its new Howland office where it is consolidating all operations except for its office in Sebring.

The event will also mark 10 years since the agency was established.

In 2021, the pandemic did not dampen the agency’s momentum, as revenue rose by nearly 10%, Platt says.

She attributes the increase to adding new insurance carriers, specifically personal lines and business coverage from Auto Owners Insurance, Travelers, Progressive, Liberty Mutual, Safe Auto and Safeco.

Platt Insurance also embraced new technology last year to improve workflow and better assist clients. As such, a new client management system was introduced to make customer service more efficient.

“We were well-positioned before the pandemic with technology, Platt says. “We’ve continued to give our clients options for how they prefer to interact with us.”

During pandemic-related downtime, staff remained productive by following a five-year path toward obtaining the independent agent certified insurance counselor credential.

Also during 2021, the agency started the Mayhew Family Foundation, a donor-advised fund through the Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley, in honor of Platt’s father, who died in 2020. The fund is focused on the areas of education, addiction and mental health.

Platt says she plans on hiring at least three licensed agents for in-office positions to accommodate projected demand in business, farm and life insurance as well as general personal lines.

This year the agency will continue to sponsor community events and support nonprofit organizations.
