Pop-Up COVID-19 Testing Scheduled for June 29 in Lisbon
LISBON, Ohio — Columbiana County is hosting a pop-up COVID-19 testing site from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 29 at the Community Action Agency.
Ohio National Guard medics will assist with the drive-thru testing. Residents can find the agency at 7880 Lincole Place by following signs posted on Saltwell Road, entering next to the municipal court building.
To schedule an appointment, residents can call ahead at 330 424 5686.
On June 11, Gov. Mike DeWine testing for COVID-19, the disease spread by the coronavirus, was open to all Ohioans. The state has worked to build its testing capacity throughout the pandemic and has begun setting up temporary pop-testing sites through the COVID-19 Minority Health Strike Force, the Ohio Association of Community Health Centers and the Ohio National Guard.
Another pop-up site will be setup that day in Canton at the Ep Coleman Community Center at 1400 Sherrick Road SE, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Having a robust testing and contact tracing infrastructure is important to the state reopening its economy, DeWine said during his briefing Tuesday.
“Public confidence is so very very important to growing our economy,” DeWine said. “And when people are not confident, they’re scared about the virus if they see a spike in the virus.”
During the briefing, Mike and Fran DeWine and Lt. Gov. Jon Husted were tested by two nurses to demonstrate the swab process.
DeWine also introduced three new TV commercials, promoting the importance of social distancing, wearing masks and getting tests. The ads feature health-care providers from across the state, including Shareece Mashiska, a registered nurse at Mercy Health – St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.
