Premier Bank Event Series Includes Parties, Jazz Concert at The Amp

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The 2024 Premier Bank Community Event Series will include a movie night with a screening of the film “Barbie” and a concert by jazz artists Althea Rene and Jeff Kashiwa.

All events except the jazz concert are free and take place at the Youngstown Foundation Amphitheatre and the adjacent Wean Park.

The series kicks off tonight with a Party on the Lawn concert featuring local band RDNA. The two-hour concert will start at 8 p.m. at The Amp.

“We are grateful for Premier Bank and the funds they provide to help underwrite these events, which allows free or very low-cost admission to all members of our community,” said Jordan Ryan, vice president of JAC Management Group and executive director of The Amp.

Here is the schedule:

  • May 3: Party on the Lawn, with RDNA, 8 p.m.
  • June 19: Juneteenth Skate Day and Cabaret, 3 to 9 p.m. Educational activities, cultural performances and skating for all ages. The theme pays homage to Reed’s Arena and African Culture Weekend, which were cultural staples in Youngstown’s Black community.
  • July 5: Movie on the Lawn: “Barbie” (2023), 9 p.m.
  • July 13: Wine and Jazz festival, featuring Althea Rene and Jeff Kashiwa, 4 to 10 p.m. Tickets start at $10 and are available at the Covelli Centre box office and ticketmaster.com.
  • Aug. 2: Party on the Lawn, featuring a Tina Turner tribute by Sheena B and the 445s, 8 p.m.
  • Aug. 30: Night Out for Neighborhoods, 6 to 9 p.m. A concert and fundraiser for local neighborhood watch organizations.
  • Sept. 6: Party on the Lawn, featuring an Elton John-Billy Joel tribute by Lee Alverson, 8 p.m.
  • Oct. 6: Nonviolence Week parade and rally, presented by Mahoning Valley Sojourn to The Past, 3 to 5 p.m.
