Prieto Langarica Named this Week’s ‘Woman Warrior’

Alicia Prieto Langarica, associate professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Youngstown State University, is this week’s Woman Warrior. The honor is conferred by the Guiding Circle of the Fund for Women and Girls at the Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley. Prieto Langarica was selected because of her close connections to YSU’s community of international students. Shortly after the campus closed because of COVID-19, she put out a call to her friends and colleagues to gather items for the YSU Food Pantry to provide food and other essential items to international students, many of whom had no other place to go and stay safe during the pandemic. The pantry’s website includes an Amazon wish list of needed items to make sure the students are getting what they need.
