Letter to Our Readers Announces Expansion Plans

To our Readers:

The Business Journal, a 35-year-old locally owned multimedia company, understands the vital role that local newspapers play in our community. With The Vindicator ceasing publication Aug. 31, we are reviewing investment options to increase our coverage of important news and local events.

We remain committed to our mission of promoting the growth of business and industry in our five-county region. At the same time, the closing of The Vindicator will create voids that we intend to fill.

We will be adding an I-Team to invest in investigative journalism and further build our exclusive reporting on market transformation. This expansion means we are actively looking to hire new staff to our team. Given our journalistic excellence and institutional knowledge of the Mahoning Valley, The Business Journal is in the best position to step forward as the comprehensive news source of record for the region.

We also will expand coverage in the following areas:

  • Local Government
  • Local Politics
  • Lifestyle, Entertainment and Culture
  • Automotive
  • Real Estate

And we intend to provide valuable information such as:

  • Legal filings
  • Real estate transactions and open houses
  • Obituaries
  • Listings of events, public meetings, etc.

We’re taking a digital-first approach by leveraging BusinessJournalDaily.com, email newsletters, video and social media. We’re also exploring the option of increasing the frequency of the print publication.

The expansion of coverage yields opportunities for our client marketing partners to reach and engage their customers using our multimedia platforms. Our sales organization is working closely with our client marketing partners to design programs to achieve their advertising goals.

We invite feedback from the community and our marketing partners as we all work through this situation – and opportunity – together.

Thank you for your support of The Business Journal.

Yours truly,

Andrea Wood
