Racino Posts Second-Best Month for VLT Play

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – Video lottery terminal wagers at Hollywood Gaming at Mahoning Valley Race Course last month were down more than $8 million from March’s record month, but still posted the second-highest performance since the racino’s opening. 

In April, VLT wagers in Austintown totaled $110.55 million, down from $118.99 million in March, the best month in the racino’s history. Except for 2016, April VLT play has declined from March to April at the racino. Last year, VLT wagers totaled $103.33 million in April, down from $109.74 million the month before, the best month until this March.

According to the Ohio Lottery Commission, which oversees VLT play in Ohio, wagers statewide declined from $1.12 billion in March to $982.64 million last month. The commission released its monthly report yesterday.  

Credits won by Hollywood Gaming patrons last month totaled $98.23 million, down from the $105.59 million in March. VLT winnings in April 2018 totaled $91.38 million. 

Net win – wagers minus credits won and promotional play credits – totaled $10.83 million in April, compared with $11.87 million the month before and $10.51 million in April 2018. 

Penn National Gaming’s share of the monthly take from net win was $7.16 million, down from $7.85 million in March and up from $6.96 million in April 2018.
