Racino Reports Highest VLT Play in April Since Opening
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Hollywood Gaming at Mahoning Valley Race Course posted its best month to date in terms of play on its video lottery terminals.
Play on the VLTs at the racino in Austintown totaled $90.6 million in April, up 21% from $74.9 million a year earlier, according to the monthly reports posted online Monday afternoon by the Ohio Lottery Commission. It also was up from $88.8 million in March, the previous VLT record for the racino .
Statewide, credits played totaled $854.9 million in April, down from just under $862 million in March but up from $756.6 million in April 2015.
The racino, operated by Penn National Gaming in Wyomissing, Pa., opened in September 2014.
“We’ve got a strong management team there, which continues to provide our guests outstanding customer service and a great entertainment experience. We think this is certainly reflected in the April numbers,” said Eric Schippers, senior vice president of Penn National Gaming, in a statement.
In March and April, 940 VLTs operated each day on average, compared with 865 in April 2015.
Winnings totaled $80.7 million in April, compared with $66.6 million a year earlier and with $79.1 million in March. Net win was $8.97 million in April, compared with $7.74 million in April 2015 and up from $8.89 million in March.
At Hollywood Gaming at Dayton Raceway, which last month had 991 VLTs operating on average per day, credits played totaled $80.0 million, credits won $71.8 million and net win $7.80 million.
