YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – After heating up in December, video lottery terminal wagers cooled off last month at the Hollywood Gaming at Mahoning Valley Race Course in January.
VLT wagers at the Austintown racino in January totaled $121.3 million, down from the $137.7 million the month before, the Ohio Lottery Commission reported Monday. VLT betting last month was up from the $109.5 million reported in January 2021.
Statewide VLT play also was down month over month in January. Last month, statewide VLT betting totaled nearly $1.1 billion, compared with $1.2 billion in December, down about 12.7%.
Credits won for January totaled about $108.2 million at the Austintown racino, down from nearly $123 million in December, but up form $97.3 million in January 2021.
Net win – credits played minus credits won and promotional play credits – was $11.2 million in January, compared with $12.8 million the month before and $10.8 million a year earlier.
Out of that, operator Penn National Gaming Inc. in Pennsylvania received $7.4 million last month, down from $8.5 million in December but up from $7.1 million in January 2021.
The lottery commission received $3.7 million, down from $4.3 million the month before and up from $3.6 million a year earlier.
