Rapper Mick Jenkins to Headline Federal Frenzy Festival
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Chicago rapper Mick Jenkins will headline the ninth annual Federal Frenzy music and arts festival.
Jenkins has played many shows across the U.S., including the Fillmore in San Francisco, Afropunk Brooklyn and other performances on both sides of the Atlantic.
He is one of 24 artists who will perform on two indoor and two outdoor stages during the festival, which will take place from 2 to 11 p.m. April 22 near Penguin City Brewery and Youngstown Flea.
Candace Campana will kick off the performances at 3 p.m. on the main stage, followed by Goners, Indre, Fine Young Men, Lvrboy and Fifth & Aurora. Jenkins’ performance will close out the night.
The Summit FM will sponsor a stage in the Pollock Ballroom at Penguin City, headlined by Pittsburgh-based band The Commonheart.
Performances on the Summit FM stage will include Larry Elefante, Rami Feinstein, Marc Lee Shannon, Katy Robinson & the Wanderers and Brooke Surgener, a new voice out of Erie, Pa.
A second, separate outdoor stage will be hosted by The Jambar Student media outside the Youngstown Flea. Artists include Unc D, Shelby Olive, Riley Burke, Demos Papadimas and Rolling Boxcar International.
In addition to the music, attendees will be able to shop from vendors at the Flea from 2 to 8 p.m.
One more stage will host performances outside the Penguin City taproom. Performances will include local artists CPA Jake, Sedona, Dom Deshawn, Madame Marlowe, Speedo Agreedo and East 9th.
Food trucks, family friendly activities and a selection of Penguin City beer will also be available.
Attendees are encouraged to park in the Wick Avenue parking deck on the Youngstown State Unversity campus. Shuttle services will be provided to and from the event throughout the day.
The annual event is free and open to the public.
