Recipes of Youngstown Vol. 1, page 78

Ingredients: 1 3/4 c. flour 1 tsp. baking powder 1/4 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. salt 1/3 c. shortening 2/3 c. sugar 2 eggs, beaten 3 ripe bananas 1/2 c chopped nuts

Directions: Sift dry ingredients together. Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs, mix well. Add dry ingredients, alternating with the bananas. Stir in nuts. Once incorporated, pour into a greased loaf pan. Bake at 350˚ for one hour. This was always a favorite in our family. Anytime there were ripe bananas on the counter, we knew mom was going to make banana nut bread.
