‘Recipes of Youngstown’ Samples New Cookbook May 13
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Recipes of Youngstown group on Facebook is savoring the Mahoning Valley’s food history one bite at a time, and now is launching the group’s third cookbook, From Mess Hall to Mom’s Kitchen.
To celebrate the new publication, the group will offer samples from noon to 4 p.m. May 13 at the Tyler History Center, 325 W. Federal St.
Over 30 family dishes are being prepared by bakers whose recipes are included in the new cookbook. A portion of the proceeds from the event and sales of the cookbook will be used to establish a scholarship fund at the YSU Foundation for military veterans finishing their education.
Admission is free but tasting tickets are six for $5 and there will be tickets available for raffle baskets. A cobbler contest is also part of the event.
