Projects Worth $1.87 Billion in Pipeline, Chamber Says
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Youngstown Warren Regional Chamber is working with companies on projects that represent potentially $1.87 billion in investment and nearly 2,800 in new and retained jobs.
The 838 new jobs would represent an additional annual payroll of $25.81 million and the 1,937 retained positions $86.6 million, the chamber said in its quarterly economic development newsletter.
In the newsletter, the chamber reported it managed or provided “significant support” for projects resulting in $1.01 billion in investment during 2016. Those projects resulted in 828 new jobs with an annual payroll of $35.73 million and 1,084 retained jobs paying $43.78 million.
Space constructed or absorbed for the completed projects totaled 1.55 million square feet. Pending projects represent a total 1.53 million square feet.
Chamber representatives completed 882 retention and expansion visits. The one-on-one visits provided the opportunity to determine the needs of the business community with regard to assistance in financing, grants, tax credits, local resources and more, the chamber said.
In addition, 80 out-of-state inquiries from companies or consultants interested in exploring local opportunities resulted in 24 companies touring available sites in Mahoning and Trumbull counties.
