Regional Chamber’s Maiorano, Wilaj Earn Ohio CED Designation
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Two members of the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber team recently received the “Best in Class” Ohio Certified Economic Developer designation through the Ohio Economic Development Institute.
The certification, which recognizes professionals who have demonstrated exceptional skills and knowledge in the field of economic development, was awarded to David Wilaj, director of the Mahoning Valley Logistics Council, and Melissa Maiorano, director of Workforce Development.
Wilaj dedicated his capstone project to conducting an in-depth analysis of the logistics industry in the Mahoning Valley, with a special focus on vehicle electrification. His research and insights have shed light on the state of the logistics industry and its potential for growth and innovation in the region, a news release states.
Maiorano spearheaded the creation of the region’s workforce coalition as the centerpiece of her capstone project. Her vision and dedication have led to the establishment of a collaborative and impactful platform that bridges the gap between employers and job seekers, the release states.
