Registration Open for Annual Swing Fore JA Golf Classic
GIRARD, Ohio – Registration is open for Junior Achievement of Eastern Ohio’s third annual Swing Fore JA Golf Classic.
The event, which will take place Aug. 7 at The Lake Club in Poland, raises funds for JA’s youth financial literacy, entrepreneurship and career-readiness programs that benefit K-12 students throughout Mahoning, Trumbull, Columbiana and Ashtabula counties.
“It has become more and more crucial to expose young people to entrepreneurship, financial literacy and career paths,” said Michele Merkel, Junior Achievement of Eastern Ohio president. “Equipping students with the knowledge to handle our world’s increasingly complicated and complex financial landscape positively impacts their future earnings and long-term wealth. Events like Swing Fore JA Golf Classic allows JAEO to continue providing our programs, free of charge, to classrooms across the Mahoning Valley.”
A portion of the proceeds from this year’s event will be donated to the Michael J. Alexander Memorial Scholarship, which will benefit a high school junior or senior.
“Michael was a beloved member of our local community, a JA board member and a JA classroom volunteer,” Merkel said. “We hope that his legacy will continue to live on through this special scholarship opportunity.”
The event, presented by The Muransky Companies, will be limited to 32 foursomes/128 golfers. Foursome packages are available for $1,000 and include 18 holes of golf, unlimited drinks, lunch, southern-style barbecue dinner buffet, golfer “thank you” gifts, food trucks, contests on the course and prize giveaways.
Golfers will have use of all Lake Club golf facilities, including the putting greens, chipping greens and driving range before the start of the event.
Sponsorships are also available.
