Registration Opens Tomorrow for YMCA’s Community Cup
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The YMCA of Youngstown is kicking off registration tomorrow for its 28th annual Community Cup, a corporate athletic challenge in which area organizations compete in a series of athletic events.
The Community Cup, started in 1990, features teams of coworkers from participating companies competing in 18 different events over the course of three weekends this summer.
“There are several reasons why companies choose to participate in the Y’s Community Cup,” said Jenn Quinlan, director, in a news release. “It helps create and reinforce an awareness of the importance of good fitness in both the participating company and the employees. It’s also a great morale booster. It fosters teamwork, camaraderie and pride in the company. And it promotes a great sense of community spirit.”
The events include bocce, kickball, golf, bowling, running, walking, bicycling and others, and will be held around the community at the Central YMCA, Mill Creek Park, Camelot Lanes, Cassese’s MVR and the Harrison Commons.
Skills clinics will be held throughout the summer to help teams prepare for the events. Team members of participating companies are invited to use the YMCA facilities for a limited time at no cost, beginning June 1 so they can train throughout the summer.
Interested companies can contact the Community Cup office by email or call 330 744 8411, ext. 143.
