YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – What was supposed to be a normal game turned into one of the most infamous games in baseball history.
A rare combination of bad blood between the two teams, a promotion that was ill-advised in retrospect and a full moon led to a night that ended in a forfeit and disaster.
“I feel like it resonates with a certain number of people, and it kind of feeds into – there was this idea that Cleveland was a really tough town in the 1970s, and this kind of really feeds into that,” local author Vince Guerreri says.
