Rock Band Red Wanting Blue Releases New Song
Red Wanting Blue released a new single Wednesday – a cover of Warren Zevon’s 1978 hit “Lawyers, Guns and Money.”
The Columbus-based rock band’s new song will be included on the “Operation Mend: Hope 2” album, along with songs by other bands. The album is set for release Nov. 8.
Operation Mend, founded at UCLA in 2007, provides plastic and reconstructive surgery to U.S. servicemen who were disfigured in the line of duty.
Red Wanting Blue will headline an exclusive special benefit show at New York’s Café Wha? on Nov. 12, with Blue Elan Records label-mates Morgan Myles, Ginny Luke and Bryan Stephens.
“Warren Zevon’s dark wit and lyrical cynicism makes for a master class in storytelling,” said Scott Terry, lead singer of Red Wanting Blue. “It was the band’s goal to respectfully add new, distinct dynamics to the song that don’t veer too far off the original track. We wanted to pay homage to the original vision while making it our own.”
Earlier this year, RWB released “Light It Up,” its 13th studio album.
The band will headline a free concert in downtown Youngstown, at the corner of West Federal and Phelps streets, at 9:45 p.m. Oct. 19.
