Rust Belt Theater to Present ‘Rocky Horror’ Spoof
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Rust Belt Theater Company will present its original musical “The Rockin’ Horribles: Audience Participation Show” at 8 p.m. Nov. 8-9 and 15-16 at its theater inside Club Switch, 221 Belmont Ave., downtown.
Written by Robert Dennick Joki and Josh Taylor, “Rockin Horribles” is a science-fiction comedy that spoofs “The Rocky Horror Show.”
It centers around “painfully basic” couple Chad and Becky, who crash their car on the wrong side of the tracks.
They seek refuge in the estate of an eccentric recluse who has a very unusual fetish. With the assistance of his creepy cohorts Jib Jab, Fuchsia and Columbiana, the recently engaged couple tests the boundaries and limitations of their gender identities and traditional relationship. The result is an evening of dark comedy, audience participation – and rocking horror.
“The show is hilarious by itself, but if you have recently watched the film or a live version of ‘The Rocky Horror Show’– even better,” said Joki, who is directing the show.
The cast includes Diane Marie, Alex Kluchar, Rachel Clifford, Rick Morrow, Caitlyn Murphy, Charity Bauer, Jon Bunge, Rachael Kerr Bunge, Lisa Torrence, Keith Stepanic, Jennifer Hutton, Vicci Sfikas, Max Caban and Joki.
Tickets are $15 general admission. To reserve seats, call 330 507 2358. The show includes adult language and situations and is for mature audiences.
