Ryan to Deliver Ohio Delegate Count for DNC
NILES, Ohio – U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan will deliver the delegate count for Ohio virtually during the Democratic National Convention Tuesday night.
Ryan, D-13 Ohio, filmed a segment announcing the delegate count while talking about Ohio outside Lordstown Motors earlier this week, according to a news release from his congressional campaign. Much of the abbreviated convention, which was scheduled to be in Milwaukee this week, is taking place virtually because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Ryan, who mounted a short-lived bid for the Democratic nomination for president last year, endorsed former Vice President Joe Biden, the eventual nominee, last November.
“I am excited and it’s an honor to deliver the delegate vote count for Ohio tomorrow night,” Ryan said. “We are going to nominate Joe Biden to be the next president of the United States, and Kamala Harris as vice president. We know Biden and Harris are going to heal this nation and send Donald Trump packing.”
The segment is expected to air around 9:50 p.m. “as states take extraordinary measures during the COVID-19 pandemic to stay true to the tradition of the Democratic National Convention while ensuring everyone’s safety,” according to the release.
The “only mystery” of the evening will be whether Ohio’s delegate count will put the Biden-Harris ticket over the top, Ryan continued.
“I sure hope so, but Ohioans will need to tune into the convention to find out,” he said.
