Ryan Presents $9M Check to America Makes

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan presented a check for $9,045,915 to America Makes during a visit this morning.

The check from the U.S. Department of Defense will fund the third phase of the Maturation of Advanced Manufacturing for Low-cost Sustainment initiative.

Ryan, D-13 Ohio, sponsored funding totaling $30 million from the fiscal 2016, 2017 and 2018 Defense budgets for the Maturation of Advanced Manufacturing for Low-cost Sustainment initiative. From this total, Youngstown State University, along with sub-contract awards to the Youngstown Business Incubator and M-7 Technologies, received a total of $10,095,814.

Ryan was joined at the press event by Rob Gorham, executive director of America Makes; Dave Siddle, program manager for MAMLS at America Makes; Barb Ewing, CEO of the YBI; Mike Hripko, YSU associate vice president for external affairs, government relations and economic development; Lt. Col. Jeff Shaffer of the 910th Airlift Wing at the Youngstown Air Reserve Station; and Mike Garvey, president of M7 Technologies.
