Salem Chamber Safety Council Wins BWC Award
SALEM, Ohio – The Salem Area Safety Council recently received the third place award from the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation as part of its annual Safety Council of the Year awards.
The Salem Council, a division of the Salem Area Chamber of Commerce, has 61 business members and enjoys 100% attendance at its events, says Audrey C. Null, chamber executive director.
“To ensure we are meeting the needs of as many employers in the community, the safety council leadership conducts an annual review of companies not benefitting from being a safety council member and dedicates a month each summer for recruitment, sending out letters inviting prospective new members and following up with a phone call or in-person visit,” Nulll says.
The council of the year awards were presented at the annual safety council managers meeting May 7 at Ohio State University, which was attended by representatives of 83 safety councils from across the state.
The Steering Committee of the Salem Area Safety Council includes co-chairmen Ginger Grilli, Della Walker House and Cami Cope; Salem Giant Eagle; Salem Auditor Betty Brothers; Doug Falk from MM Industries; Andrea Trgovcich, Pure Water Technology; Alexandra Keck, Auburn Skilled Nursing & Rehab; Rilla Gill, Lyle Printing & Publishing; Teresa Reckner; Jim Wenderoth; David Loughner, Ohio BWC, Null and Lori Jewell, the chamber’s administrative assistant.
