Sales of New Cars in Valley Up 3% in November
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Sales of new cars in the Mahoning Valley rose slightly last month, data from the Automobile Dealers Association of Eastern Ohio show. Two thousand new cars, trucks and SUVs were sold in Columbiana, Mahoning and Trumbull counties, a 3% gain from November 2014.
Greenwood Chevrolet, Austintown, led new-car sales for all dealerships with 135 vehicles. That was three more than Sweeney Chevrolet, Boardman, which finished the month in second place.
Rounding out the top five are Sweeney Buick GMC, Boardman with 109; Taylor Kia, Boardman, with 105 and Stadium GM Superstore, Salem, with 101. No other dealership hit triple digits.
For the second month in a row, the Chevrolet Silverado was the best-selling vehicle in the three counties with dealerships sending 128 from their lots. Chevrolet held down the top three spots as the Equinox and Cruze Limited sold 120 and 116, respectively.
The Ford F-150 and Fusion rounded out the top five with 58 and 53 sold in November.
Only 11 of the redesigned 2016 Chevy Cruzes, built at General Motors’ Lordstown Assembly, were sold last month. The Cruze Limited is the name GM assigned to the version with previous model years’ stylings.
Sales of used vehicle dropped 3.1% from the same month last year as 2,984 were sold throughout the three counties. The top used models were the Chevrolet Impala with 83 sold, the F-150 with 81, the Chevy Malibu with 78, and the Chevy Silverado and Ford Focus with 67 each.
