New Vehicle Sales Up in Valley for December
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Sales of new cars and trucks rose 4.5% in December compared to the same month in 2014 among dealers in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana Counties, the Automobile Dealers Association of Eastern Ohio reported Thursday.
ADAEO said that 2,410 new-vehicle titles cleared during the month versus 2,306 in December 2014.
For the year, sales of new vehicles were 30,047 in the Mahoning Valley compared to 30,035 in 2014, or an increase of 0.39%.
Total sales of new and used vehicles for the month were also up, ADEAO reported. The association said that all dealers, whether new or used vehicles, sold 5,542 in December compared with 5,454 in December 2014, an improvement of 1.6%.
Year-end sales in the region for all vehicles were 73,262 units, compared to 73,523 in 2014, a drop of 0.35%, virtually the same.
Sweeney Chevrolet, Boardman, reported the most titles cleared, issuing 175 in December. Greenwood Chevrolet, Austintown, sold 158 new models; Stadium GM Superstore, Salem, was third with 142; Taylor Kia, Boardman, 142; and Sweeney Buick GMC, Boardman, 108.
The Chevrolet Cruze Limited led as the most popular model sold in the Valley during December with 184, the Chevrolet Equinox, 163 and dealers reported selling 162 Chevrolet Silverado 1500s.
Rounding out the top five best-selling models in the Mahoning Valley were the Ford F-150, 76, and the Chevrolet Malibu Limited, 70.
The December and year-end sales report is the last one that will be released by ADAEO, which is being disbanded following the retirements of its executive director and his assistant.
