Salvation Army to Launch Red Kettle Drive
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Salvation Army will launch its annual Red Kettle Campaign tomorrow morning. The organization’s signature red kettles will be stationed at area shopping centers beginning Nov. 9 through Dec. 24.
During the Kettle Kick-Off Breakfast, Major Elijah O. Kahn, area coordinator for The Salvation Army Mahoning County Area Services, will highlight the need in the community and this year’s goal of $350,000. Ivan Meszaros, general manager of Quaker Steak’s Warren restaurant and son of the chain’s late co-founder, Gary Meszaro, will be the keynote speaker.
Jim Loboy, meteorologist on WYTV’s morning show “Daybreak,” will serve as master of ceremonies for the Kettle Kick-Off Breakfast, which Quaker Steak & Lube will sponsor and host for the fifth year at its Boardman location, 435 Boardman-Poland Road.
Also at the event, Jeff Muirhead, general manager of Quaker Steak Boardman, will present the Mahoning County Salvation Army a $1,000.00 kick-off donation. “As the Red Kettle Campaign gets underway, I hope our donation encourages other businesses and individuals to give back,” Muirhead said in a statement.
In addition to breakfast, guests will be treated to a performance by the Salvation Army Brass Ensemble featuring guest soloist Missy Walker, with a special appearance by Captain Care, the Salvation Army mascot.
