Sarah’s Ceramic Studio Wants Customers to Express Selves

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — Sarah Fenton opened her small business a year ago just as a hint of normality was returning to the world.

Sarah’s Ceramic Studio, off Mahoning Avenue in Austintown, is a walk-in ceramic art studio that also features local artists and makers’ pieces in its small shopping area. The studio also hosts workshops that Fenton and other local artists conduct.

Fenton had a vision for her studio to have a calm, relaxing space where people of all levels of ceramic-making skill can come together and create items for a low price. The items to be glazed in her shop range in cost from $5.35 to a high of $30.25. The average price is between $10 and $15.

In addition to being a walk-in studio, Sarah’s Ceramic Studio offers private events such as date nights, birthday parties, gatherings and more.

Sarah’s Ceramic Studio is hosting an anniversary Outdoor Artisan Market June 25 that is free to the public. There will be 20+ local artists, makers, food trucks and crafters set up in the parking lot of the studio.

Fenton says her Spring Pinch Pot workshop was the highlight of her first year in business.

“The individuals who participated were absolutely wonderful to be around,” she said.

Fenton owns and operates the studio as a safe space for the LGBTQIA+ community where customers can shop, relax and create. She is proud of this and hopes to bring more art into Austintown and keep her business here for a long time.

Sarah’s Ceramic Studio’s summer hours are noon to 6 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday, noon to 4 p.m. Sundays: Those interested can book private meetings and date nights after regular store hours by calling 330-406-9509 or emailing sceramicsstudio@gmail.com.
