SBA Accepting Applications for Emerging Leaders Program

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Registration is open for the Small Business Administration’s Emerging Leaders training program, which will be held locally at Youngstown State University.

Over the course of the program, which runs April through October, includes 40 hours in in-class training, seven meeting with CEO mentors, course work and networking opportunities.

Applicants must have been in business for at least three years, have at least one employee aside from the owner and have gross annual sales of at least $250,000. The participants must be the owner or top decision maker at the company.

“The goal of this ‘mini-MBA’ program is to provide owners of established small businesses with the knowledge, resources and scale to grow in success,” said the local SBA office in a release. “Twenty applicants whose businesses have high growth potential are sought for the training program. Businesses from the Mahoning Valley/Youngstown area and surrounding counties may apply.”

Since it was created in 2008, the SBA Emerging Leaders program has trained more than 5,000 business owners, helped create more than 6,500 jobs, generated more than $300 million in new financing and secured $3.16 billion in government contracts.
