Schwabenbauer Joins Akron Children’s as a Neonatologist
AKRON, Ohio – Dr. Kathleen Schwabenbauer has joined Akron Children’s as a neonatologist at the Akron Children’s NICU at St. Elizabeth’s and Beeghly Special Care Nursery.
Previously, Dr. Schwabenbauer served as the clinical director, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at UPMC Magee Women’s Hospital. She also served as an assistant professor of pediatrics and attending physician at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.
She earned her undergraduate degree from the Schreyer Honors College at The Pennsylvania State University and her medical degree from The Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine. She completed her pediatric residency at Jefferson Medical College/AI duPont Hospital for Children and her neonatology fellowship at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh/UPMC Magee-Women’s Hospital.
She is board certified in pediatrics and neonatal-perinatal medicine and is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Akron Children’s Neonatology provides the highest level of intensive care to sick and premature newborns. The most common prenatal conditions treated are breathing, intestinal and surgical problems, congenital heart defects, prematurity and very low birth weight.
