Scrappers Bouncing Back in 2021 | 3 Minutes With 7-12-21
NILES, Ohio– Now that Eastwood Field is able to host events at full capacity, things are starting to pick up for the venue and the Mahoning Valley Scrappers. The minor league team will play between 34 and 38 games per year. In addition to the games, Eastwood Field will also close to one hundred extra events like the college and high school sporting events as well as concerts.
“This is going to be a bounce back year for us,” says Mahoning Valley Scrappers general manager Jordan Taylor. “We’re getting back to normal I guess you could say. Really 2022 is going to be the year where I think your going to see things look pretty comparable to where we were pre-2020.”
The goal for this season according to Taylor is for Scrappers games to reach attendance levels seen in 2019 of about 3,000 spectators. “We’ve been at that level for probably about the last decade,” he says, “Getting back to that level will be considered a success.”
