Sen. Brown on Letter to Big Three Auto Companies

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — During a virtual press conference on Thursday, U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown discussed the letter he is leading to the big three auto companies calling on them to negotiate a fair outcome that folds in workers at all joint venture electric vehicle battery facilities – including Ultium Cells in Lordstown – into the national UAW contract.

The Senator noted that workers making EV batteries are currently making around $16 an hour.

“They need a raise. GM can absolutely afford to give it to them. We know that GM abandoned auto workers in the valley when they closed the Lordstown plant. We can’t allow them that kind of behavior again,” said Sen. Brown.
