Sharpsville Receives $500K to Support Affordable Housing
SHARPSVILLE, Pa. – The Department of Community and Economic Development awarded the borough $500,000 for existing owner-occupied housing in partnership with the Lawrence County Community Action Partnership.
The funding is through the Home Investment Partnership Program, which provides municipalities with grant and loan assistance to expand and preserve affordable housing.
“With housing availability decreasing and housing prices rising throughout the country, this funding will help folks find quality housing at a more economic price here at home,” said state Rep. Parke Wentling of Mercer, R-7th.
Home Investment Partnership Program funds can be used in a variety of ways to address critical housing needs, including market-oriented approaches that offer opportunities such as home ownership or rental activities to revitalize communities with new investment.
The Department of Community and Economic Development receives Home Investment Partnership funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development through the annual appropriation process.
