Sheely’s Furniture Celebrates 65 Years

NORTH LIMA, Ohio – Sheely’s Furniture and Appliance celebrates 65 years with plans to build a 5,000 square-foot closeout center this winter at the rear of its showroom, 11450 South Ave.

“Over the past 65 years, the people of this Valley and beyond have supported our family business from its humble beginnings to where we are today. We are so proud to continue the legacy of the Sheely family and this business by offering the largest selection of furniture, appliances and bedding to our customers, paired with our team of exceptional sales and service staff,” Sherry Sheely said in a news release.

Since its beginning in 1952 as Sheely Electric, the company has grown into a 75,000 square-foot showroom, over 150 employees and consistently ranking in the top independent furniture retailers nationwide by Home Furnishings Business Magazine.

At age 23, Dale Sheely Sr. began Sheely Electric and 10 years later incorporated the business as Sheely’s Furniture and Appliances Co. Inc.

In 1980, the business moved to its current location. As the business entered the 1990s, the second generation of the Sheely family took over the day-to-day leadership with Dale Sheely Jr. as president and CEO and Sherry Sheely as chief operating officer.

“I learned early on the importance of reinvesting in the things that matter. At Sheely’s, we make it a priority to reinvest in our employees, our building, our delivery and service fleet, our technology, marketing and so much more,” Dale Sheely Jr. said.

It’s this strategy that has helped Sheely’s create a three-state sales footprint and helped the business grow throughout the years.

Sheely’s established the Dale and Alyce Sheely Foundation in 1994 and in 2013 began the Give Change Make a Change Program to benefit the Rescue Mission. Dale Jr. and Sherry Sheely were awarded the Sojourner House Community Service Award in 2001 and Dale Sr. received the Salvation Army Philanthropic Award in 2012.

In celebration of its 65th anniversary, Sheely’s is offering daily prize giveaways at the store now through Aug. 19, with a second giveaway promotion planned for October. More information on these offers can be found at Sheelys.com.
