Sheetz Purchases Jackson Township Land for $2.4M

NORTH JACKSON, Ohio – A new Sheetz service station is planned for 15 acres just north of Interstate 76 and east of Bailey Road at Leonard Commerce Park, according to records from the Mahoning County Auditor’s office.

Auditor’s data show that Sheetz Inc. purchased 15.4 vacant acres for $2.4 million from Leonard Interchange LLC. The sale was recorded Feb. 22.

The area near the I-76/Bailey Road interchange has attracted new development in recent years. About eight years ago, a Truck World location opened along the west side of Bailey Road at Commerce Park.

More recently, First Energy announced it had started construction of its American Transmission Systems Inc.’s new operations service center nearby.

Moreover, the Bailey Road corridor has drawn attention from other projects, such as the expansion of Pur Foods at Youngstown Commerce Park and the recent construction of the new headquarters of the Ohio Utilities Protection Service.

Sheetz has eight sites in the Mahoning Valley, including one near Girard that includes electric-vehicle fast chargers. It is not clear whether the franchise plans for EV chargers at the North Jackson location.
