Simon Roofing Introduces New Technologies

BOARDMAN, Ohio – Simon Roofing, the country’s 14th-largest roofing company, added four regional offices in 2017, with the expectation to add another five in the coming year, says co-owner Anthony Vross.

Central to the company’s growth over the past decade, he notes, is Simon’s commitment to developing new technologies. Last summer, for example, Simon introduced the CLP Membrane System, a more durable roofing than traditional single-ply materials.

The commitment also takes the form of new hires, Vross adds, as exemplified by the addition of George Kubas, one of the first graduates of Youngstown State University’s materials, science and engineering doctorate program.

Overall, Boardman-based Simon Roofing employs 546, including 185 in the Mahoning Valley.

“We’ve invested considerable time, revenue and employees in the research, development and testing of commercial roofing membranes,” Vross says. “CLP Membrane is a major step forward in commercial roof replacement technology that even caught the attention of the nationally syndicated television program ‘Office Spaces.’ ”
The show spent several days filming at Simon’s headquarters in Boardman, highlighting the development and application of the CLP Membrane.

Another new technology introduced last year was the proprietary SR PreVision program, which uses test core samples to determine how long a roof will last down to a tenth of a year.

“That information is used when consulting with clients about the most cost-effective recommendations for extending the life of their problem roofs, which is a unique service in the commercial roofing industry that’s growing in demand,” the co-owner says.
The company also was awarded the ISO 9001:2015 certification, which covers the manufacturing, installation and service of high-quality materials for building, construction and specialty applications.

“Maintaining quality control is core to our company’s values,” says Michael Dohar, chief operating officer. “Achieving ISO 9001 across our entire organization – from sales and service to installation and materials manufacturing – underscores our commitment to delivering the ultimate in customer satisfaction.”

Simon Surfaces, a division of Simon Roofing that specializes in concrete repair and commercial and industrial floor resurfacing, continued to grow in 2017 within the retail, restaurant, gas station, industrial and warehouse industries. Plans are in place to raise its profile even further in 2018 among customers and prospects throughout the country.
Simon Roofing was founded in 1900 and today has branches and service centers in 34 states and Washington, D.C.
