Single Permit for Utica Drilling Awarded by ODNR
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – A single permit for drilling in the Utica-Point Pleasant shale play was granted by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources for the week ended Nov. 16, the agency reports.
That permit was awarded to Utica Resources Operating LLC for a well in Willis Township in Guernsey County.
To date, 3,201 permits for drilling in the Utica shale have been awarded by ODNR. Of those, 2,732 wells have been drilled and 2,361 are active.
In Pennsylvania, the state’s Department of Environmental Protection reported no permits awarded for wells in Lawrence or Mercer counties.
