Sodexo Helps Austintown Schools ‘Stuff the Bus’
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — Students at Austintown Local Schools will start the year with new school supplies as well as meals thanks to Sodexo | Roth.
For its inaugural Stuff the Bus initiative, the facilities management company worked with the school district to identify a list of needed supplies, says its marketing coordinator, Christina Denham. From July 29 to Aug. 12, employees donated 1,447 items and collected $140 in donations that will provide 49 meals to students in need this year, Denham says.
“Back to school season is often an exciting time in every community,” she says. “However, with each new school year comes the need for countless new supplies. Therefore, Sodexo | Roth employees decided they wanted to help local students start the school year off right.”
Donated items include glue, crayons, tissues and pencils, and were dropped in designated bins at Sodexo | Roth. Monetary donations will also help defray the cost of educational magazines and other supplies, Denham says. Donations were dropped off this week. School begins on Aug. 27.
The first year for Stuff the Bus was “extremely successful” and the company looks to make it an annual event, she says.
