South Ave. Groups Plan Friday Cleanup Event
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — the South Avenue Area Neighborhood Development Initiative, in conjunction with the South Avenue Business Association, will hold Project Clean Sweep for South Avenue this Friday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Representatives of businesses along the corridor, volunteers from neighborhood block watches, students from Cardinal Mooney High School and Mahoning County Juvenile Justice Center, and concerned citizens will meet at the parking lot of Metro Assembly, 2530 South Ave. Refreshments will be provided.
During Project Clean Sweep, South Avenue businesses will get help clearing their parking lots, sidewalks and buildings of trash, gravel and weeds. Areas with tall grass will be cut, and any weeds will be weed whacked. Vacant properties also will be cleaned up.
Jennifer Jones, Green Youngstown coordinator, will provide the gloves, bags and any necessary tools. All trash bags or other debris can be left at the curb for pickup by the city of Youngstown.
