Southern Park Mall Reopening May 12

BOARDMAN, Ohio — The parent company of the Southern Park Mall announced Tuesday that the mall will reopen May 12 with limited hours.

In a release, the Columbus-based Washington Prime Group announced the mall will open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. Planned reopening dates for individual tenants may vary. Customers can call ahead or check Facebook and Instagram for updates.

Effective immediately and until further notice, the mall has implemented additions to its Code of Conduct in light of the coronavirus pandemic. Shoppers are recommended to cover their nose and mouth with a cloth face covering, are not permitted to gather in groups and must maintaining six feet of distance from other people, according to the release.

Customers are also expected to adhere to each individual tenant’s COVID-19 policies, as well as all federal, state and local regulations, recommendations and mandates, the release states.

“We are inspired by the resilience of our community and look forward to safely welcoming back our guests,” said Brian Gabbert, general manager at Southern Park Mall. “We will continue to work with local, state and federal agencies to do all we can in order to contribute to the containment, treatment and prevention of COVID-19.”

In addition, Southern Park Mall’s rigorous disinfectant and cleaning practices will continue, many times daily, including periodically disinfecting areas most susceptible to the spread of germs.

Alcohol-based hand sanitizer dispensers are located in highly-trafficked areas and walkways for public use. Center management is meeting with housekeeping daily and monitoring alcohol-based hand sanitizing product supply to help ensure all units are stocked.

The mall continues to offer it space for donations of food and goods, as well as blood drives. Donations of nonperishable food, bottled water, laundry soap, toilet paper and toiletries are being accepted for The Salvation Army. Donations can be dropped off from noon to 5 p.m. daily. The donation bin is located outside the food court entrance.

Southern Park Mall will host a second blood drive in partnership with the American Red Cross from noon to 6 p.m. on May 21. Donors can schedule an appointment online at RedCrossBlood.org or by calling 1-800-REDCROSS.

Progress continues on leasing, planning and construction at the mall, according to the release, though Washington Prime Group isn’t providing additional detailed updates at this time.
