Sports Exhibit at Tyler to Focus on Blacks, Latinos
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – A new sports exhibit, “The Ebony Lifeline Sports Museum: The Valley’s Diverse Athletic Heritage,” will open Saturday at the Mahoning Valley Historical Society’s Tyler History Center.
The exhibit, which will be on display in the Youngstown Foundation Community History Gallery, will feature a collection of sports-related images, trophies, and equipment that highlight the sports contributions of the black and Latino communities in the Mahoning Valley.
Created by the Ebony Lifeline Support Group in 1996 as part of the celebration of Youngstown’s bicentennial, the exhibit will encompass the diverse story of local sports – from high school football, basketball, track, baseball and volleyball, to adult league sports including softball, bowling and golf, to individual sports like boxing and body-building.
The exhibit will be on display through April 30. For more information, visit the MVHS website or call 330 743 2589.
