St. Elizabeth Youngstown, St. Joe’s Report No Open ICU Beds
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – There are just 33 intensive care beds available in the area’s six hospitals, with none open at St. Joseph Warren Hospital or St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.
According to data from the Ohio Department of Health released by Eye on Ohio, the two hospitals reported no Open beds March 19, the most recent date with information available. A week earlier, on March 12, St. Joseph had no open ICU beds, while St. Elizabeth Youngstown had two. Neither hospital has had more than five open ICU beds since mid-February – St. Joseph on Feb. 15 and St. Elizabeth on Feb. 13.
Elsewhere, St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital had five available ICU beds on March 19, even with March 12. There were 20 open beds on March 11.
Salem Regional Medical Center had six open beds March 19, down from 11 a week prior, while East Liverpool City Hospital had eight, up from four the week before.
Statewide, there were 579 available ICU beds in hospitals on March 19, down from 735 on March 12.
The number continues the trend in place since mid-November, in which the state reports a large spike in capacity in Fridays.
