St. Vincent de Paul Names Risks Executive Director

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Alan Ricks has been named executive director of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul – Mahoning District.

Ricks will oversee the operations of the local district. These include a kitchen serving meals daily, a pantry that provides food items and the soon-to-open thrift store and donation center on Market Street across from Southern Park Mall.

Ricks is uniquely qualified to lead the Mahoning district having served in public management, real estate development and brokerage, according to the announcement of his appointment. Over the last 12 years, he has been engaged in various ministries. Among them are the prison ministry, lay leader of prayer, men’s renewal program, parish leader program, Eucharist minister and music ministry. He also has served on the board of Catholic Charities Housing Opportunities, St. Joseph the Provider School and Youngstown Pregnancy Help Center.

He holds a bachelor’s degree from Xavier University and a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Dayton.
