St. Vincent de Paul to Move Dining Hall to New Location

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Society of St. Vincent de Paul Mahoning District Council’s dining hall will soon have another new home.

The organization on Friday will begin moving its dining hall from its current location at the former St. Cyril and Methodius Church, 252 E. Wood St., to the Broadway Community Campus, 430 Williamson Ave.

The Diocese of Youngstown is renovating the Wood Street building, and the Society of St. Vincent de Paul has to relocate before Oct. 4.

Meal services will continue at the Wood Street location until Friday. They will resume Monday at the new location.

“Successfully ministering to the most vulnerable members of our world takes a strong network of caring people working together,” said Alan Ricks, executive director of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Mahoning District Council. “This move, and those working hard to make it happen, puts us where we want to go and helps us broaden our outlook for what’s possible in the future.”

This isn’t the first time in recent years the dining hall has had to find a new home. In 2017, structural issues forced the closure of the building on Front Street where the dining hall operated. It then moved to the current Wood Street location.

The new facility on Williamson Avenue is larger than the previous locations and offers more space for guests, kitchen staff and volunteers.

“I’m thrilled about the opening of our new Broadway Community Campus in collaboration with the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Mahoning District Council,” said Adam Lonardo, executive director of Broadway Community Campus. “By working together, we’ll provide essential recovery and social services to support and uplift a disenfranchised population, demonstrating our commitment to community care and healing.”
