Stark State College to Host Info Session for EGCC Students

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Stark State College, one of the community colleges working to aid students left in limbo by the proposed dissolvement of Eastern Gateway Community College, will host an information session Wednesday.

The session, which will be held from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Eastern Gateway’s Youngstown campus, 101 E. Federal St., will aim to help students find options to continue and complete their academic programs through Stark State.

Students will be introduced to the North Canton-based college, learn about teach-out versus transfer opportunities and hear about the plan to work with Eastern Gateway at the state level to help impacted students, including tuition rates and options for students living out of state.

Stark State will also provide information for prospective students from the area about its associate degree programs.

“Stark State College offers the quality, affordable, value, classes and support services to help these students earn degrees and certificates that prepare them for immediate employment in high-demand fields and/or university transfer,” said Para M. Jones, Stark State president. “We’re ready to help students enroll for the summer and fall semester.”
