BOARDMAN, Ohio – In case there is any question, and over the weekend there were countless questions and calls to the four Gorant candy stores in the Mahoning Valley, while their doors are closed, the stores are still selling candy.

Meanwhile, the independent operators of stores in Warren and Austintown that specialize in Gorant candy emphasized Saturday that while their doors are close, that they, too, are selling candy online and through curbside delivery.

Perry Macheras, owner of Gorant Candies of Warren, 8264 E. Market St., said over the weekend that it’s “business as usual for Ed and I,” Macheras said, referring to Ed Ridenbaugh, executive vice president. He directed customers to the store website,

Lori Gavalier, president and owner of Gorant Chocolatier in Austintown, said her independently owned store is open for “curbside pick-up, limited free delivery and internet sales. …We need to sell our Easter candy as well.”
