Steranko Exhibition Now Open at the Butler

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio– A 65-piece collection of paintings by artist Jim Steranko is now on display inside the Butler Institute of American Art through May 29. Steranko’s painting feature several literary and cinematic characters like Indiana Jones and Conan.

Wendy Swick, the Butler’s public relations director, says bringing in exhibitions other than traditional fine art exhibitions encourages the general public to feel more comfortable coming to visit the museum.

“We can not have American art history with out having this type of art,” Swick says. “It is so big with pop culture, especially right now.”
