Struthers City Schools Celebrates Opening of Bus Garage
STRUTHERS, Ohio – Struthers City Schools’ new 11,000-square-foot bus garage is a big upgrade over its former uncovered surface lot.
The new building at 300 ½ Creed St. has eight overhead doors and is the new home for 12 buses and a district van. The building also houses the transportation supervisor’s office and a conference room.
The building was funded using a combination of grant funds, a lease purchase agreement and local funds.
Officials recently celebrated the opening of the building with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
“This addition not only enhances the efficiency of our vehicles, but will also help with our day-to-day operations by having office spaces for our transportation team,” Superintendent Pete Pirone said. “It’s a major upgrade from the 1980s trailer that was used for an office at the old parking lot.”
The building’s conference room will be used for professional development workshops, Pirone said.
The school district is planning to host an open house for the community in the spring.
