Substitute Teachers Needed to Support School Districts
CANFIELD, Ohio – Being a substitute teacher has many benefits, including the ability to set your own work schedule and have evening, weekends and holidays off, according to Sandy Furano, director of the Mahoning Valley Regional Council of Governments. She says being a substitute teacher also improves your chances of obtaining a full-time teaching position.
Each year, the Educational Service Center of Eastern Ohio hosts several recruitment events in search of substitute teachers.
“The need is there,” Furano says. “There are times during a day where we could have 100 teachers across our schools absent, and we need to get those filled so classes can continue going and we can have that support for our students and our school districts.”
